WEB 2.0 EXPOSED

You witnessed, were a victim of or have at least heard about the bursting of the dot com bubble in the fall of 2001. Fortunes that had been made overnight were lost overnight. The sky was falling. It was a very scary time for a lot of people. Some said that the World Wide Web was just a flash-in-the-pan idea that had been over-hyped and that the crash was irrefutable proof of that fact. There were, however, some survivors of the 2001 dot com bust. The survivors had a few important commonalities and there were those who insisted that the World Wide Web was more important than ever and had a very bright future indeed. One of those who saw the results of the 2001 dot com bust as a ‘glass half full’ rather than a ‘glass half empty’ was a man by the name of Tim O’Reilly. O’Reilly (of O’Reilly Media) met with Dale Dougherty of Media Live International in 2004. Out of that meeting the term ‘Web 2.0’ was born. The definition that Tim O’Reilly gives for Web 2.0 is: "Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform. Chief among those rules is this: Build applications that harness network effects to get better the more people use them."Web 2.0 can be viewed as an upgrade to the World Wide Web. It is still the web but it is a new and improved version of the web. New technologies such as blogs, social bookmarking, wikis, podcasts and RSS feeds are just a few of the technologies that are helping to shape and direct Web 2.0. The Web before the dot com crash is often referred to as Web 1.0 now but only since the coining of the term Web 2.0.Some of the more obvious difference between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 are: DoubleClick replaced by Google AdSense, Britannica Online replaced by Wikipedia, Personal Web Pages replaced by Blogs, Content Management Systems replaced by Wikis and Directories replaced by Tagging. These are only a very few of the differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 but they are major ones. You will notice, if you look carefully that the commonality of many of the differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 is that Web 1.0 was driven and controlled by the ‘powers-that-be’ and Web 2.0 is driven by users. That is a huge difference and the one that is making Web 2.0 more and more user friendly not to mention more and more profitable for just average people. You might even call it a power shift of seismic proportions.Once the websites that could be accessed on the Internet were built and controlled by only a few and were certainly not ‘interactive’ but today anybody with an idea, a few dollars and just a little know-how can build a Web 2.0 website that is completely interactive and turn it into a money-making enterprise if they choose to. The technology is there. It is easy to use. It is accessible and it is relatively cheap....some of it is even free. Many websites that started out as static websites are now adding features like blogs and forums and propelling themselves into the future of Internet commerce. Those websites who continue be ‘old hat’ are falling further and further behind. Just regular people now expect to be able to ask questions and get answers from websites and they expect websites to be at least somewhat interactive. The Internet has always been and still is a platform for information but with Web 2.0 is has also become a platform for participation.Let’s look at just a few of the innovations of Web 2.0 and how these innovations have changed the way that all of use the World Wide Web:Blogs: Blog is a term that is derived from the blending of the two words ‘web’ and ‘log’....Blog. Fairly early in the history of the World Wide Web people could build personal web pages. It is true that not many people did build personal webpages but it was, nonetheless, possible. Still, these personal webpages were static websites. The owner of the website could post information about himself or his interests but others could only read the information that the owner of the website posted. He could keep an online journal that he could allow others to read but it was ‘read only’. Then along came technology. Blogging software was developed. Now those who had personal websites could not only post about themselves, but they could allow their visitors to comment on what had been posted or ask questions. It was a huge advancement. Because of that technology, today blogging is very big business. People visit and post to blogs all over the Internet about any and every subject that they are interested in and the owners of these blogs have figured out that they can make their blogs very, very profitable indeed.Social Bookmarking: Social bookmarking is more or less a by-product of blogging but it is based on the same basic technology.Social bookmarking sites such as Delicious, allow their users to upload their own favorite site bookmarks so that everybody else in the world can see and use those bookmarks. When a user uploads his favorite site bookmarks into his online account, a backlink is created to that site. When enough people click on the link, the site that has been book marked gets indexed and gains a rank by search engines. It is a form of user driven advertisements that is far more successful than any kind of paid-for advertising can ever be. There are a great many social bookmarking sites on the Internet now and new software is being developed all the time that makes these sites more and more productive as advertising tools and traffic driving tools.Wiki: A short definition of Wiki is “Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages on the fly.” In short Wiki technology allows editing of material posted on a website by the poster or by others. The best example of Wiki technology is action on the Internet is Wikipedia. In the old Web 1.0 way to doing things the owner of a website had full control over all material that was posted to the website and only website owners could edit material posted on the website. With the advent of Web 2.0 that idea has gone the way of the horse and buggy.RSS Feed: The acronym RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is yet another Web 2.0 feature that allows the web to be driven by people rather than by the powers-that-be. Those who use RSS content use reader or aggregator technology. Users subscribe to these feeds. The reader or aggregator then checks the user’s website and when the site has new content, it is picked up and sent to the user. That is a rather simplified explanation but that is basically how it works.A client based reader or aggregator is a stand-alone program that is attached to an existing program such as a web browser or an email reader. A web-based reader or aggregator makes the user’s feeds available on any computer with web access.Podcasts or Webcasts: As broadband internet connect connections and wireless networks become more and more common throughout the entire world, the podcast or webcast is gaining in popularity. While people do still read, they are better at looking and listening to information thanks to television, hence, the advent of podcasts or webcasts. You can find and tune into podcasts or webcasts on almost any subject imaginable today. Those who have blogs are making use of this technology to sell products and to promote their websites in record numbers.Web 2.0 is definitely here to stay and those who are still trying to do things the old Web 1.0 way are falling behind this wave of today and of the future. Will there be changes to Web 2.0?Well, of course, there will be. Web 2.0 is fluid and it is every changing. New technology will be developed and as it is developed people will use it. People are, after all, the driving force of Web 2.0.And, you might ask, just who will benefit the most from Web 2.0? It will be those who embrace the new technologies as they become available and it will be us...all of us. The internet no longer belongs to the few and the privileged. Big business has lost its edge. The Internet and Web 2.0 has leveled the playing field. All of us (you, me and all those who have access to the Internet) can now compete and win.

The History of Transfer Factors

In 1949, Dr. H. Sherwood Lawrence discovered that when you transfer blood to another person, some of the donor’s immunity is transferred to the receiving person. From this discovery, research began its journey through the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Scientists believed they had found that ultimate immune system and health enhancer. They believed that transfer factors would be the ultimate natural medicine. As technology increased, more and more was learned about the benefits of transfer factors. More than 3000 studies were conducted and $40 million (USA) was invested into research. Scientists from more than 60 countries were involved in this research. Two developments stopped this progress. First was the development of antibiotics. Antibiotics were inexpensive to manufacture. They were effective. Antibiotics took the show.Another development was the contamination of the world’s blood supply by HIV and hepatitis C virus. Up until this time, the only known source of transfer factors was derived from blood. Research stopped in its tracks. In 1986, two hog scientists discovered that mothers passed down their transfer factors to their babies through the placenta and colostrum in order to give the baby’s immune system a chance to survive a hostile environment of pathogens. These scientists found the cows did the same thing. Often calves will not survive if for some reason they do not receive the colostrum from the mother. Research began to move forward again. Antibiotics still reigned as king in the medical world. Many scientists that worked with transfer factors derived from blood didn’t think transfer factors from colostrum would work, so they didn’t enter the research.Three events in history changed all of this. First, technology advanced. Secondly, germs began to become resistant to antibiotics. Third, 4Life Research created a large consumer base from which they derived a great deal of information about how transfer factors affected the health and immune systems of more than a million customers. Now research is exploding!Every year and sometimes every month, something new is discovered about the effectiveness and roles of transfer factors. 4Life Research was the first to bring a line of transfer factor products to the market that contained transfer factors from cow colostrum. Next, their in-house scientists discovered that eggs contained transfer factors and the combination of the two increases their effectiveness by 185%. Transfer factors from colostrum and eggs were found to be actually superior to transfer factors from humans because animals are exposed to many more species of bacteria, viruses and fungi. Animals live in the wild while humans try to keep sterile. Animal transfer factors have hundreds of years of more exposure creating a more functional transfer factor.

Did You Realize You're Already Participating in Network Marketing?

Picture this scenario. You have just seen the greatest movie and raved to your friends about how great it was? Next thing you know your friend calls you and tell you thanks. He is now raving to his friends about how great the movie was. Next you go to the theater, the manager singles you out from the crowd and thanks you for all the people that came to the movie based on your referrals. He already has a check written out with your name on it and then proceeds to give you your tickets for free. Your snacks are already paid for. Then your alarm goes off and it was just a dream. Back to reality. You get dressed and head out to work. On your way to your car, your neighbor waves to you after picking up his newspaper. He is still dressed in his pajamas and robe and is sipping casually on his coffee cup that has bright neon lettering displaying his new motto "No Job". This guy doesn't do anything but what ever he wants. He traded in his toyota camry for a brand new lexus and makes sure everyone knows it paid for with his customized plate that says "P'dnFul". SHOW OFF.
As you drive off you can't help but remember him telling you about this great company he got start with a year or two ago and how he was starting his own home-based business. You remember laughing and telling he was wasting his time and you had been there and done that. You picture him saying, "you know I've been there too, but this time its different. I did my research and this is a good program. You know you should take a good look at if before you made a decision." Your reply was simply, "Well when you make it big, I will check it out."
At this point, he's clearly not a millionaire but he retired early from his job and is always going on vacation.
Here's the difference between him and you. He did his homework. Choose a good company and started marketing himself first. He studied some of the top courses on using attraction marketing and wow did it pay off. That was about two years ago.
Today, you decide to make a decision to get paid for doing what you already do. When ever you promote or refer anything to someone you are basically doing the same thing network marketers do, but the difference is you don't get paid. Its really that simple.

The Low Down Dirty Truth on Network Marketing (Sneak Peak of Chapter 5)

THE 5 KEYS TO PICKING A NETWORK MARKETING COMPANY

DISCLAMER: Much thanks to Michael Dlouhy for the following insight. I must give credit where credit is due. I am very thankful to Michael for providing the following information and training:

For more info, visit http://freemlmsteroids.com/

1. Company Management/Experience with Integrity.
First you must check out the founders, officers and policy makers (administration) behind the company. Also, are there many complaints or litigation against the company? A good place to start is the Better Business Bureau and Hoovers.com. Google is even easier. I usually start from backwards when I do a Google search because some big companies just buy the top spots to keep the bad press at the lowest ranking pages. If you already in the company, or even considering joining one, definitely get your hands on their policies and procedures, the first thing you want to check on is the termination policy. One major red flag policy is when they state they reserve the right to terminate the agreement between the company and distributors for any reason or without cause. I have to wonder why in the world they would want a policy as such. Most distributors never see the policies and procedures until after they have joined up with the company. One should always request to see this critical document before even considering the company.

2. Timing in Company/Industry
Of all factors you must consider before joining any company, this one is crucial. Timing isn't everything, but it’s key. If you join a me–too company you are not going go anywhere. First of all the market, is demand driven. If there are many similar companies with the same products as yours then you have your work cut out for you. You can forget it if you join a company whose product time has gone or is all ready in saturation. You are going to go around in circles. If you’re in an industry that has no viable future, again you're not going to see any growth. So with regards to timing and the industry, make sure you do your homework on this matter. You definitely don’t want to join a network company that been around longer that you. If your grandparents were involved in the company, take their word when they tell you to bypass this one. It’s definitely, well most likely at saturation. Saturation is at the point where that are more distributors/customers than prospective customers. People are joining and leaving faster than you can say Jumping Jack Flash. Make sure they have a remarkable product or products not readily available elsewhere.
Do a bit of studying about the industry they represent. For instance, you would not want to join a company selling long distance phone cards, for the simple fact that there is not a market for that product. Why would someone buy that from you when they can go to any corner store or convenience store and purchase one for less than 5 bucks? Would you start a company that sells products VHS/cassette tapes in the DVD/CD era? No, because even though VHS and cassette were once hot items the trend in so longer applicable.

3. Remarkable Product (The Illusive Purple Cow)
"In his book Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable, Seth Godin says that the key to success is to find a way to stand out--to be the purple cow in a field of monochrome Holsteins. Godin himself may be the best example of how this theory works: The marketing expert is a demigod on the Web, a best-selling author, highly sought after lecturer, successful entrepreneur, respected pundit and high-profile blogger. He is uniquely respected for his understanding of the Internet, and his essays and opinions are widely read and quoted online and off." Forbes.com

Here’s what you must to do be successful. You must not settle for a me-too product or company. Do your research and due diligence concerning this matter, BECAUSE this is one the most important factors concerning your success. This is also relative to timing. Your product can be considered a purple cow, if it is the first to market or has strong marketing campaign behind it. If know one know about this product, the first company to launch an effective marketing campaign turns their product into a purple cow (something different, remarkable). For example, Company Alpha for example, was the first to bring to market the noni drink to market on a large scale. Now, there are other companies that market noni but Company Alpha has the market share. This is the same with Company Bravo and the mangosteen product and Company Charlie and the Acai beverage. Actually, I gave these companies a serious look but had reservations when the me-too products started popping up. For some reason, I didn’t like the fact that now the Big Boys and SELL’MO were now competitors with very similar products.

4. Compensation Plan That Pays Part-timers.
One of the first things that you have to look at before signing a distributor application is the compensation plan. The plan should be fairly easy to understand and not majorly complicated. The more complicated the plan, the more likely the company is trying to hide something. Also you want to peruse the company’s policies and procedures. There are many different types of compensation plans. They run the gamut from overly complicated to incredibly simple. The plan should be fair and compensate both the company and the distributors. Also the plan should pay both Part-timers and the heavy hitters for the efforts fairly. Some compensation plans are guilty of doing either one or the other. The ideal compensation does both. A balanced plan reduces the level of attrition. Attrition in network marketing is defined as a simply as the ratio of people leaving an organization verses those that stay. There can be many factors that attribute to the effect. Competition is the biggest cause for this. When a me-too company copies the original company, they usually will attack the weakness or vulnerability of the former and highlight the flaws of the distributor’s present company and present their company as the solution. Now this might seem cutthroat, but it’s really just a matter of survival of the fittest. If company A did their homework or was at least actively communicating with all levels of its distributor base, it would be able to defend and go on the offensive against such attacks. OK. Let’s get back to the basics.
One of the best ways to reduce attrition is to get your distributors making money as soon as possible. This is addressed in the next step, the system for success.

5. System for Success
This pillar is considered the most important. This factor is what creates leverage and allows you to take full advantage of leverage. Picture in your mind a table with 4 legs on the ends and a center leg piece in the middle. This table is considered very sturdy and secure. This is what the system does. You can jump in right away and plug in to a successful system already in place. Now, if you are starting the organization from scratch you will have to develop this system on your own. This is referred to as the “school of hard knocks”. You will have to try different techniques and tweak them to fit your organizational needs. Once you develop your system, it will be able to create growth even if you are not actively working in it. That is the power of leveraging and true duplication.

OK, do yourself a favor. Cleanse your mind of all the crap you been fed in the past. Duplication in network marketing is a myth. Not everyone you sponsor is going to be a carbon copy of you. It just does not happen like that. Now here is the asterisk, you don’t duplicate yourself, what you duplicate is a successful system which other folks that have similar goals and dreams as yourself can use to create comparable success. Now this little tidbit was so sweet and to the point I just had to lift it as is (no, not really because I am going to give the author credit. :)

“Success in Network Marketing is not about duplication. It is about organization building. In your organization you will have many clerks and many franchise owners. Your job in building an organization is to assist people in growing into the roles they choose. You must become a leader. The size and success of your organization will be directly proportionate to your leadership ability. The solution is to find the right training and mentorship to assist you in developing your Leadership qualities as quickly as possible.”
MLMFIREPOWER.COM

The cost of entry into the industry is usually so low that folks tend to take the opportunity lightly and don’t approach the task the same as if they had to cough up a large franchise fee or mortgaged their home to finance their conventional business. This great feature/benefit also presents the biggest handicap to individuals with the wrong mindset, because it allows them to minimize the business opportunity. If you come in with the wrong mindset which basically “well it only cost me 500 bucks (usually way less) to get started in my own business, If it doesn't work it’s not that big a deal”. Look at that statement again. What did that person have to lose? Not much.

Who Is Steph Perez?

Steph Perez is one cool chick. I actually first saw her online doing her thing on YouTube. I joined several programs she was doing and they put me on to some exciting things in the world of online marketing. I made contact with her, and yes she is that bubbly. I haven't know her long, but I have great sense of intuition. I know real people when I come in contact with them. I try to give everybody the benefit of the doubt but my spider senses usually tingle really hard around fake people. So there, Steph is for real. Check her out, check out her blog and some of her programs.
